Ronnie Spector: The Trail-blazing Frontwoman Of The Ronettes, Dies At 78.

It is indeed a downhearted day for all of us as  Ronnie Spector, the lead singer of the iconic all-girl band Ronettes passed away at 78 years of age.

An official statement confirmed that we have lost the songstress after her courageous battle with Cancer. She passed away leaving a void in the entire industry of music, never to be filled again. It is extremely disheartening to even believe that a singing star is no more with us.

Her family members said, “Ronnie lived her life with a twinkle in her eye, a spunky attitude, a wicked sense of humor, and a smile on her face. She was filled with love and gratitude.”

Struggles And Success Of The Band Ronettes

The starting few singles didn’t do that well in the industries, but it was the song titled ‘Be My Baby’ that brought to them the start of hits! The song was rated no. 2 in US, 1963 and secured the fourth position in the UK. Phil Spector soon signed the Band.

it is mesmerizing to recall The reaction of Beach Boys’ Brian Wilson when he first heard the song ‘Be My Baby’. He recalls how while on a drive he heard the song and it blew his mind!

The esteemed band reexplored the strength of an all-girl band. In 1957, Ronnie formed the band. She gave us smash pop hits like, ‘Be My Baby’, ‘Walking In The Rain’ and ‘Baby I Love You’.

Their song ‘Be My Baby’ was also featured as the opening theme for some of the iconic movies, counting Martin Scorsese’s Mean Streets and Dirty Dancing in 1973.

There are just too many greats leaving us right now. Sing in power forever Ronnie. Make the angels feel like teenagers again.

Just like them and us, various other iconic music personalities and celebs have been mourning the loss of the late singing star.
