The original or first Moana movie was released in 2016 and grossed around 650 million dollars worldwide. There is no doubt that the animated movie was a huge success, and therefore, many expected the release of Moana 2. Will the series be renewed, and if yes, when can we expect it to be released? What is Moana about?
Moana centers around a young polynesian girl by the name of Moana. She was selected by the ocean to find out a demigod by the name Maui. She was also tasked with returning a mystical relic to its rightful owner.

The movie featured great storytelling, amazing animation and heartfelt, emotional moments. It was definitely enjoyed by people of all ages. The casting of the movie was great as well. Moana was voiced by Auli’i Cravalho while Maui was voiced by none other than Dwayne the Rock Johnson.
So when is Moana 2 releasing?
Sadly, even after gaining large amounts of followers from around the world, the creators have not said anything about the renewal of the movie. A few rumours were initially floating around about the release of the 2nd part, but nothing has been confirmed. No expected sequel has been spoken about and after almost 5 years, many are expecting the movie not to be renewed.
However, there is no need to give up hope! Many animated movies are renewed after long periods of time as we have seen with Toy Story and others. They also take longer to make and require large production costs. There could also be a delay with the ongoing pandemic. The original movie did garner a lot of profit, so there is no reason for the studio to not renew a second part.
