Record of Ragnarok

At Tokyo’s AnimeJapan 2021 Expo, something exciting was released. The famous Record of Ragnarok manga was finally getting an anime adaptation. The story based on an epic battle of humanity is a big hit among fans, so when the news of an anime adaptation was released, excited chatter broke out on the internet. Read on to find out more details!

Record of Ragnarok Release Date and What We Know

The anime is getting released sometime in June 2021. The confirmed date will also be released soon, along with some spoilers. Since the anime is a Netflix original, there is little chance it will be available on Crunchyroll, Funimation, and other such platforms. Therefore, we suggest you get a Netflix subscription to enjoy the series to its fullest.

What is the series about?

The God’s council assembles every 1000 years and decides the fate of humanity. However, after 7 million years have passed, the gods decide that humans are too far gone and must be made extinct. The valkyrie, Brunhild, suggests giving the humans one last chance as a way to prove their worth. The gods agree to this and decide to hold a battle of Ragnarok. In this tournament, 13 notable humans will fight against 13 powerful Gods, where they will duel to their death.

If the Humans have more than seven wins, humanity will be spared. To assist the humans against these powerful Gods, each human will be provided with a valkyrie. This valkyrie can change into a powerful weapon specifically for the person who is wielding the weapon. This is at the risk of the valkyrie losing their life if the user is killed.

The anime has various types of imagery and even has Biblical references where we see The Creation of Adam’s Fresco by Michelangelo done on the Sistine Chapel.

Record of Ragnarok Spoilers and Trailer:

While no spoilers for the anime have been given, we can expect the appearance of historical figures who may even feature in the fights—for example, Adam and Lu Bu. The anime is expected to host certain cultural and religious depictions.

An official trailer of the anime has been released, and you can get a glimpse of the storyline as well as the animation style!
