Made in Abyss is a mystery and action-packed Japanese anime television series that premiered in 2017 and released in total 13 of its episodes. The brilliant show received spectacular ratings from almost everywhere, garnering a whooping 8.8/10 from MyAnimeList.net and a rating of 8.4/10 from IMDb. However, do not let the young protagonists fool you as this show is in no absolute way kids friendly. The underrated show, which many of our readers might not be aware of, is a work of pure genius and art and has a very dark undertone that begins to show itself as we go deeper into the series. Therefore, it is no surprise that season 2 of the series has been scheduled to make a debut in 2022 titled Made in Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun. A Brief Introduction To The Plot
The story of the show revolves around a young orphan girl named Riko who is living in the Belchero Orphanage in the town of Orth. Riko’s town, the town of Orth, surrounds a strange chasm like a hole, which is said to lead to the abyss. The deep hole is rumoured to be the house of many ancient relics and artefacts, worth a lot of money, making it a perfect destination for thieves, architects and explorers to try their luck around. However, there is a strange curse on Abyss, which states that “The deeper one goes down, the less likely they are to return”.
However, despite knowing about the curse, Riko’s mother, an adventurer and explorer, delved into the deepest part of the abyss from which the young woman never made it back. Now a 12-year old Riko, with a spirit of adventure in her heart, wishes to follow in her mother’s footsteps and find out a way to reveal the secret of the land of Abyss and make it to the end!
