Tommy Lister No More: Friday Films Actor Passes Away At 62

The whole world is in a state of shock ever since the news of the demise of Tommy “Tiny” Lister surfaced all over the internet and social media. Lister was known for his role as Deebo i Friday film series.

What Happened To Tommy Lister?

As per the official statement given by Cindy Cowan, Tommy Lister’s manager, on the afternoon of Thursday, 10th December, he was found unconscious in his house. He was declared dead there at his home in Marina Del Rey, California.

She also revealed that the late actor had tested positive for COVID-19 some time ago but he had recovered from the virus. However, his health declined again a week ago and he had been facing difficulty in breathing for the past few days.

The official cause of his death has not been confirmed yet. A statement from his family or officials is being awaited.

Tommy Lister’s Career

Before joining the film industry, Tommy Lister was a pro wrestler. He was a part of World Wrestling Federation and World Championship Wrestling. WWE in a recent tweet expressed their grief on the loss of Lister saying,

He gained immense popularity for his role in the 1995 movie Friday and its sequel in 2000. He played the role of Deebo, a bully who used to threaten the people in his neighborhood by intimidating them. The most famous line of Deebo which is remembered till date was

“Get knocked out like your father used to.”

Tommy Lister had multiple talents right from his childhood. He also became NCAA Division II shotput champion in 1982 while he was in Cal State University in Los Angeles. Not just that, he had also played football for a brief period of time with the United States Football League’s New Orleans Breakers.
