Peter Nygard, an extremely popular name in the world of fashion is surrounded by great trouble currently as he has been accused of sex trafficking and sexually assaulting at least 10 women and girls whose names haven’t been disclosed.
What Does The Lawsuit Against Peter Nygard Say?
Reportedly, some of the girls were under the age of 18 when the assault happened, said the federal lawsuit. The lawsuit, which was filed on Sunday states that Nygard subjected women to drugs and sexual assault promising them money and a successful career as models.
Also, as per the lawsuit, Nygard was responsible for sex trafficking at his 150,000 square foot compound, Lyford Clay. He built the place in the Bahamas somewhere in the 1980s. Furthermore, some “pampering parties” attended by renowned politicians and law enforcement personalities were organized by Peter Nygard at Lyford Clay. Sexual assault to most of the women happened during such parties.
The lawsuit further gives a detailed account of Nygard’s practices and the above-mentioned parties. Victims were forced to perform sex acts through the means of manipulation, violence, and fraud. Moreover, they couldn’t leave the place unless Nygard allowed them to. The suit also mentions that these victims were made to do the job of “recruiting more victims” like them.
It has also been stated that Peter Nygard kept a track of more than 7500 underage girls, and fetched for “potential victims” through his company servers.
Another allegation made in the lawsuit is that the local law enforcement was bribed by Nygard for helping him in hiding the sexual crimes going on.
What Did The Party Opposite Nygard Say?
Greg Gutzler and Lisa Haba, the attorneys representing the people who’ve accused Nygard, have released a joint statement assuring justice. The statement says,
“We want these women to know that they are stronger, and their voice is more powerful, than the man who inflicted this horrible alleged abuse. Peter Nygard’s reign of terror has come to an end and we are committed to ensuring that he is brought to justice.”
Statement From Nygard’s Spokesperson
His spokesperson stated that this lawsuit was expected. Also, he said that this is just a means of trying to harm Peter Nygard’s reputation as a response to the lawsuit that Nygard filed against Louis Bacon. Bacon is an American investor, philanthropist, and hedge fund manager.
Another statement by Gutzler and Hiba claims that after the lawsuit was filed on behalf of 10 women, more than 100 witnesses and victims have given information along with evidences and proofs confirming the sexual abuse and rape.
