Apparently, the anime was renewed for season 4 some time ago. At the 2019 AnimagiC convention, which took place in Germany, the show’s creators pointed this out. They said that season 4 would happen but gave no further information. Also, season 3 ended on a cliffhanger, so weebs expect a fourth season to come around as an answer. On top, all major series get renewed, so similar are the chances for Overlord. However, the recent wave of Covid-19 has greatly disabled many shows, and Overlord is no different.

As is evident from above, we have no idea about a release date. Honestly, fans are not even aware if season 4 is under production. Nevertheless, if season 4 happens, we can consider it out by 2022 or late 2021. We hope to get further news halfway through the year, but so far, no valid information is available. Plot Expectations
Overlord is based on a Light Novel by Kugane Maruyama and illustrated by So-bin with 14 volumes. Each season of the anime adapts around three volumes. Continuing that streak, season 4 should cover volumes 10, 11, and 12. The tenth volume is titled “The Ruler of Conspiracy” and revolves around Ainz’s decision to make his nation a paradise for all races. Also, the volume tells the story of other nations and their conspiracy against Ainz. Most likely, season 4 will begin from this point in Overlord’s story.
Moving further, season 4 should also cover the 11th and 12th volumes. The anime is based on a DMMROPG game titled Yggdrasil. The story revolves around a human-Momonga who gets isekaid in the game’s world and takes on the role of Ainz Ooal Gown.
Cast For Season 4
We have no official word, but vice actors might remain unchanged. So we would see Satoshi Hino, Yumi Hara, and others from the previous seasons’ return. The third season was criticized for its lack of character development. So we might see some new faces and, obviously, some new voices in season 4.
