What deal was made when Disney bought Marvel?

Marvel Entertainment, LLC (formerly Marvel Enterprises) is an American entertainment company based in New York founded on June 1998. The company is mainly known for its Marvel Comics, Marvel Animation, and Marvel Television units. Until 2009 Marvel was an independent entertainment unit. In 2009 Walt Disney Company bought Marvel for $4 billion, and so now Marvel Studios and Disney Studios are the same. Since then Marvel Entertainment has entered into several partnerships and negotiations with other companies across the globe. Marvel had film licensing agreements with Sony Pictures (for Spider-Man films) which recently broke as things didn’t work out.

Marvel also has a pact with Universal Pictures (distribution rights to any future Hulk films produced by Marvel Studios). The upcoming project of the theme park includes licensing agreements with IMG Worlds of Adventure and Universal Parks & Resorts. Marvel’s characters and properties have also appeared at Disney Parks.

Disney first announced their purchase of Marvel Entertainment on August 31, 2009. Iron Man came into theatres in May of 2008 followed by The Incredible Hulk. After Disney purchased Marvel, the success was not quite visible for some years, but after several years Marvel was blooming. Also before the purchase of Marvel Disney bought Pixar which in the present day concludes that the decisions made by Disney are none less than brilliant.
