In September 2018, a reimagined live-action series was announced by Netflix, which will be based on the original animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender. Co-created and produced by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. The production of this movie was to start in 2019, with Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko returning for the remake.
But it was stated that Netflix didn’t “Follow through” their vision for the show. And they end up leaving the production. But now, Netflix is starting its production this year.
Avatar: The Last Airbender Story:
The live-action remake by Netflix is based on the original Nickelodeon animated series Avatar. The story is set in a fantasy world divided into four-nation based on the element they can manipulate. Air Nomads, Earth Kingdom, Water Tribes, and the Fire Nation. Each kingdom possesses some individual known as “Benders”. With the help of their telekinetic power and regional martial arts can harness the power of the nation’s element. But only one person is capable of harnessing and controlling all the four-element “Avatar”. One who is responsible for maintaining peace and harmony among all the four-nation.
Aang, the current avatar born in the air nomads, was frozen for a century in the iceberg was defrosted by Katara and Sokka of the water tribe. Now Aang is on a journey that will ultimately lead him to be the Avatar. That will make him the master in controlling all the four elements. So that peace can be brought into their world once again.
Avatar: The Last Airbender Remake Cast Members:
Four core cast members Gordon Cormier, Kiawentio Tarbell, Ian Ousley, and Dallas Liu, were announced by Netflix on 06 August 2021. These will play Aang, Katara, Sokka, and Zuko respectively in the Netflix live-action remake of the series Avatar.
Along with these, Albert Kim was announced as the writer and showrunner of the remake. At the same time, a role is confirmed for Dante Basco(the voice of Prince Zuko in the animated series) in Netflix’s live-action series Avatar.
Release Date, Trailer, Seasons, and Where to Watch?
An official release date for live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender Series has not been announced yet by Netflix, but the production will soon start this year. Therefore the first season of the series might premier in late 2022 or 2023. There is no trailer available as of now. But since the production has not started yet, it is very likely to be released in mid-2022 and not anytime soon.
Netflix’s Live-action will likely have 3 seasons as the original animated series had 3 seasons. The original animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender and Legend of Korra are available to stream on Netflix along with M. Night Shyamalan’s live-action movie adaption.
