The first season of Vampire Diaries aired in 2009 and it became one of the most thrilling and sensational supernatural series on air. People around the world fell in love with the series and it ran for 7 more seasons after that. The 8th season finished in 2017 and since then fans have been waiting for news on Vampire Diaries Season 9. Read on to find out more details.
What happened in Season 8’s Finale?
The finale of the last season was definitely a rollercoaster of emotions. It left the fans screaming, crying and smiling. We saw a number of events which happened. Elena and Damon finally confessed their love for each other and they became a happy couple. While Stefan made the ultimate sacrifice (and later even earned the redemption for said sacrifice.) Stefan then walks into the mysterious light where he sees Lexi waiting for his arrival. The episode comes to an end when we see Elena finding her Gilbert clan and she gets to meet her long-lost parents.
The season ends on a happy note even after all the emotions felt. However, that does not mark the end and there is definitely more of the story left.
Vampire Diaries Season 9 Release
The creators have been talking about a Season 9 and recently there were rumours flying around about its renewal. Many were expecting it to release in March 2021, but no such thing has happened. The problem seems to be the unwillingness of the actors to continue in their roles of their main characters. After almost 10 years of portraying these characters, a few of the actors do not wish to return to the series.
Ian Somerhalder (Damon), Paul Wesley (Stefan) and Nina Dobrev (Elena) have all rejected the role of continuing any further. This is a big problem as a large part of the show depended on the actors who played the characters. Finding new actors or replacing them might ruin the show and it may lose many of its loyal fans.
Seeing this, we may not get a renewal of the show and season 8 may be its last appearance. However, do not give up hope! Let us wait for official news regarding Vampire Diaries Season 9 and hopefully, the actors will return soon.
