Jerry Krause and his Humble Beginnings

Born in 1939 in Chicago, Krause was very much interested in sports. In school, he played as the catcher for the baseball team. Later, Jerry Krause went on to attend Bradley University. After university, he worked as a scout for the Baltimore Bullets. There, he quickly earned a reputation for having a sharp eye for spotting talent. Consequently, some people credit him with the discovery of the Hall of Famer Earl Monroe.

After this, he worked for  Phoenix Suns, Philadelphia 76ers, Los Angeles Lakers, eventually settling with the Chicago Bulls in 1985.  Jerry also worked as a Baseball scout. In the 1970s, he worked for Cleveland Indians, Oakland Athletics, Seattle Mariners, etc. Krause also worked for the Chicago White Sox till 1984. During his time with the White Sox, he played a significant role in signing Ozzie Guillén and Kenny Williams. Both of them ultimately led the White Sox to a World Championship in 2005.

Later Life and Retirement

In 2003, Krause decided to retire from scouting and resigned from his role as GM. After this, he worked with New York Yankees before moving on to the New York Mets in 2005. He also worked with the White Sox again in 2010 before breathing his last 21 March 2017.
