Chris Ayers’ Career:
Christopher Owens Ayers, or Chris Ayers, was born on May 16th, 1965, in Richmond, Virginia. He had found his calling in voice acting at the age of six. Later on, Chris also worked as a choreographer, scriptwriter, director, and fight director. Thus, it can be said that he used his talent in various fields. Additionally, he worked under Funimation to voice different anime in English dubs. Of which, some examples are Frieza from Dragon Ball and Prince Soma from Black Butler. Not only was Chris loved by his co-actors, but he’s also respected throughout the community. The DBZ community was sorrowful to hear the news of his demise.
The Long-running Fight:
It was in 2017 that Chris Ayers found about his illness. Since he used to have frequent coughs and short breaths, he opted for a checkup. Though he wished the situation to be less complicated, the results contradicted. Chris got the sad news that he’s currently diagnosed with end-term COPD. This disease directly affects the pulmonary arteries of the lungs.
Additionally, it results in less blood flow to the lungs, which finally results in death if not treated. On the other hand, COPD is avoidable and treatable. However, Chris got this illness during its end term, which didn’t leave many options. In addition, the cost to treat this disease was huge. Chris Ayers got a lot of help from Anime Twin Cities Inc., which raised about 25,000$ to cure this disease. In October 2019, Chris also received a lung transplant.
