Re: Zero Season 2 Episode 13: All The Witches At One Place, Trouble 7X

Re: Zero Season 2’s first cour is about to end, and fans are saying they are having an “absolute blast,” so far. They have a lot to say about this fantasy series, quoting a fan “It’s incredible how Re: Zero makes a dialogue-heavy episode way more interesting than other anime full of action. Like seriously! I am on the edge of my seat with each episode and they are mostly just talking!” About time someone appreciated a good back and forth of dialogues.

To Give You A Kick-Start Here Is The Plot Of Re: Zero-

Imagine doing a trivial task like shopping in a supermarket and when you leave the store, you’re somehow absorbed in a whole alternative fantasy world. Subaru Natsuki, an ordinary teenage boy, finds himself in this life-changing scenario. Having let down his parents, Subaru felt worthless and insecure because of his own sense of living up to parental expectations.

Looking up at his admirable and boisterously charming dad, Kenichi Natsuki, all Subaru wanted to do was to be like him. But he soon realized his short-comings. So when he enters this magical world, Subaru feels that perhaps here he has a chance for salvation. Meeting Emilia — a silver-haired half-elf girl, he gained a new sense of purpose. Thus began his adventure in this unknown world,  without knowing the reason for his summoning or the person who summoned him here. However, he soon realizes that this world is as unforgiving as his world back home, or perhaps even more!

Previously On Re: Zero Season 2 Episode 12:

After the release of its second to the last episode titled “The Witches’ Tea Party,” there is only one last episode left this cour. In this episode, we see Subaru recovering from the most traumatic loops in the entire series. Subaru came to realize something about his ability Return By Death,’ that he can return to a specific save point and there are penalties to consider. Meaning, it simply rewinds the timeline in the same world he dies in. Invited by Echidona to another tea party, he discovers a lot about her.

But before that, he goes through the second trial, which is to face the ‘Unthinkable Present’. However, Subaru has to take the trial again and again as he has countless lives to spare. Making it harrowingly difficult for him to progress. It brought goosebumps for the viewers as the scene was so intensely developed, and the part where Puck shows up to fight him was chilling. He couldn’t pass the trial at first and was going crazy. If Echidona wouldn’t have interfered  Subaru’s mind would have “worn away to nothing”.  If not for Echidona, he would have ended up like Emilia.

And then there was the Puck Vs. Reinhard part. In season 1, we saw that Puck tries to destroy the world after Emilia dies. In this Episode, we see Reinhard using the “Dragon Sword” to fight Puck. Defeating Puck in one magnificent stroke, we finally saw Reinhard’s genuine power.

Echidona wanted to make a contract with him. As she wanted to experience his ability ‘Return By Death’ from his eyes. Subaru didn’t see any problem with that. And just when he was about to accept it, someone unexpectedly arrived. The Witch of Wrath tried to dissuade him, saying Echidona is a trickster. After that one-by-one, the other witches also arrive.

All these witches threatened the world 400 years ago, yet they seem to by showing compassion for Subaru. Still, Echidona offers him to use her however he wishes. But in return, she wants to see through his eyes and experience his abilities. Subaru calls her out, on that saying “You are incapable of understanding how anyone feels.” That you are just acting. He also learns that Beatrice has been waiting for no one. In the end, he declines her offer, saying he will make a contract with Beatrice instead. But then another witch appears, ‘The Witch’ and they leave us with that as a cliff-hanger. Satella showing up seems to upset Echidona.
