The show’s story is actually A sequel to the plot of a game with the same name. In its first part, titled “Extra,” revolves around the complicated life of Takeru Shirogane, who wakes up one day only to find a beautiful girl lying next to him, claiming to be his wife. Utterly confused and dazed, Takeru is caught red-handed by none other than his childhood friend and neighbor, who has had a long-time crush on him. Now both the girls try their best to gain Takeru’s affection, creating a big lovable mess. However, Takeru is still quite unsure as he remembers a dream in which he promised one of the girls that he would marry her, now who’s this girl? However, all of this changes drastically in its sequel titled “Unlimited” when Takeru realizes that neither of the girls arrive that morning to wake him up and find out that the earth is being destroyed by alien beings called BETA.

The story of Muv-Luv Alternative revolves three years after the events of Muv-Luv Unlimited when Takeru once again wakes up trying to rationalize that the events of Unlimited must have been wrong. However, he soon realizes that things are extremely wrong in the world that he has woken up now. However, Takeru is once again sent back into the past, and this time, he must change the ending of Muv-Luv Unlimited and must forge his alternative ending hence the series’s name Muv-Luv Alternative.
Although, if we look at it from the point of view of a member of the international audience, the Muv-Luv Alternates is hardly going to make any sense because a brief knowledge about the game is necessary to understand exactly what the hell is going on truly. However, if you’re one of those with a spirit of adventure and want to find out for yourself, then do not forget to catch the debut of the fourth part of the Muv-Luv series, the Muv-Luv Alternative, all set to make its grand debut on the 6th of October 2021.
