Naruto was a story that touched the heart of millions. A story of a failure prying to reach the top. A story of a boy looking to get recognised by his peers. However, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations brought us something which we haven’t witnessed before. A story of a boy who doesn’t want to be like his father. A boy who wants to walk on his own path.

Initially, Boruto – Naruto Next Generations suffered a lot of criticism due to its slow-paced storyline as compared to its prequel – “Naruto”. Fans were left even more depressed when it was revealed that Masahi Kishimoto, the author and the writer of Naruto, was withdrawing from the series and handing it over to someone else. That’s why it came as no surprise when the series received less than average ratings.
However, with Masahi Kishimoto back in the loop writing new chapters and every episode becoming better than the other, it seems that the show is finally coming back to life. The ratings have already gone up, and it is safe to say that they will keep climbing.

The anime opens with a destroyed Konohagakure. Teenage Boruto is fighting an enemy named Kawaki, who foreshadows the Hokage’s death, aka Naruto and Boruto’s father.
Going back in time, unlike the age of Naruto, Konohagakure is now living in peace. All the shinobi villages are now cooperating and living together in peace. Konohagakure has now become an extremely modern place to live. All thanks to the 7th Hokage – Uzumaki Naruto, who is loved by all except his son.

Uzumaki Boruto loves his mother and sister dearly and gets upset when his father puts the village before his family. Boruto is a bright boy, unlike his father, secretly looking to get acknowledged not because he’s the Hokage’s son but by his own convictions.
One day Boruto has a dream in which Toneri Otsutsuki calls him the “chosen one” and reveals to Boruto the power in his right eye called “Jougan”. Soon after, Boruto begins to see a shadow, a shadow that only he can see. A shadow driving the people in the village mad one by one.

Meanwhile, a familiar threat is rising once again—a threat that led to the Fourth Great Ninja War. However, the threat is much more powerful and deadlier than the last time, and it seems that even the 5 great Kages might not be able to stop it. This is what Okutsuki Kaguya talked about – “they will come for me”, and it seems like they have.
