Thus, the two begin a rivalry of committing high-level fraud. Makoto must retaliate against the cunning Laurent as he and his associates make their way through the underworld. Great Pretender has a similar setting to that of The Detective is Already Dead. Both have a sense of action and adventurous mystery to them. What this anime lacks in romance, it instead makes up for in some excellent psychological warfare.

He later discovers that the man, named Osamu Dazai was actually committing suicide.
Osamu is a detective who deals with supernatural cases that the police are too afraid of or unable to solve. He has, in fact, been investigating the same white tiger that was tormenting Atsushi. Osamu is a maniac for suicide, and tries different methods to commit suicide from time to time. Soon, Atsushi becomes involved in his investigations, eventually joining a firm of supernatural investigators. If you’re looking for a supernatural, shounen, detective anime, check this one out.
It’s amusing to know that Osamu Dazai was the name of an actual author. He is very popular in Japan, selling many books even now. Some interesting facts on him are that he had tried to commit suicide multiple times throughout his life. Finally succeeding in a double suicide by drowning along with his wife. Moreover, in Bungou, Osamu has a power called Ningen Shikkaku (No Longer Human), the name of this power is actually adapted from the name of an actual book written by Dazai. While this anime includes characters from the successful City Hunter anime, it isn’t a direct spin-off of the series, and can be enjoyed without any knowledge of City Hunter. Even in this anime, we have a female protagonist who has the heart of someone important to the male protagonist. The show follows their adventures as they solve thrilling mysteries together.
