Introduction To The Plot Of A Certain Magical Index

[BACKGROUND]

In this world, magic in humans is found in three ways. One, if the human is inherently born with some special abilities. Two, if he or she has acquired powers with the help of science. These individuals with the artificial source of magic are known as the Espers. Last but not least are the Sorcerers. The sorcerers are the humans who have gained the knowledge of magic by studying various mythologies and with the help of magical artifacts. In other words, these individuals use knowledge and artifacts with special powers to invoke their latent magical powers. However, not a lot is known about the sorcerers. Not to mention that out of all three, only a few humans have managed to gain the title.

[PLOT]

the plot of the story revolves around a boy name Tōma Kamijō. Toma is a student in the Academy City. A city known for its high technology and knowledge in magical arts. A place that combines both magic and knowledge.

However, Toma is not a normal human. He is born with a special power unseen before. Toma’s right hand has the power to negate any magic. However, his natural powers come with a price, every time Toma uses his powers; he ends up using a part of his luck as well. This condition makes his powers not only dangerous but also extremely troublesome for him.

One day in a chance encounter, Toma meets a nun, a young girl named “Index”. Later, it is revealed that the church has modified the index’s mind to store one of the 103,000 forbidden magical books. In other words, her mind has been used as a secret location to hide one of the books to prevent them from being misused.

Together with Index, toma is able to meet a lot of different people and enables him to research his own special abilities. However, he is not the only one curious about his powers. The rarity of his powers makes Toma a person of interest for both the Sorcerers and the Esper society. Who would like nothing more than to make Toma a lab rat for their experiments?
