It bears a resemblance with HxH because the main character is consistently underestimated because of how he looks. Moreover, the game scenes in the series are highly strategic and feel like that of an adrenaline-inducing HxH battle.

Akame ga Kill has a dark theme similar to the later episodes of HxH; moreover, it has well animated and intense battle scenes and a well laid-out plot. The scenes in this series are beautiful enough to compete against the best of even HxH.

Upon death, he doesn’t seem to fit in either Hell or Heaven and thus has to be transported to give a few tests under the guidance of the Death God, Botan. He now works as a spirit detective, instructed with removing all the evil and dangerous spiritual presences on the Earth. Many of the characters in this show share similarities with HxH characters- Gon and Yusuke, Kurama and Kurapika, Killua and Hiei, Leorio and Kuwabara are alike.

They can do as they please in the house; however, they must take a test daily, and the children are warned from going far away from the house. The oldest children soon begin to unravel something mysterious surrounding the house’s nature, learning of the horror that awaits them and the sinister nature of their beloved mama. The Promised Neverland shares battles of meticulous strategizing, something that was very compelling to watch in HxH as well.

One day, she meets a robot with the appearance of a young boy. He has no memories until their encounter, and she names him Reg. The two believe that the technology to build him can only be from the Abyss and head off on a journey inside the gaping pit. 

The two go on an adventure but are unaware of the kind of world that awaits them in the Abyss. These anime shares similarities with HxH since both the anime start as light-hearted and beautiful ones but later dive into deep and dark themes. If you want to treat yourself to a captivating adventure, beautiful sceneries, a capturing story, and a beautiful soundtrack, this anime is a must-watch.

Now, these anime share many themes similar to Hunter x Hunter, but the authentic experience is something that you, unfortunately, can’t find again. Gon is extremely enraged when Pitou asks for more time to heal Komugi. The episode slowly built an element of exciting suspense and made me wobble to the edge of my seat. The Phantom Troupe decides to avenge Uvogin’s death and infiltrate the auction to cause destruction and honor him. The Ten Don’s are sent to deal with Chrollo, who kills them all one after the other. Soon, the legendary Zoldyck family’s assassins, Zeno and Silva, appear in the scene. This battle is considered to be one of the best in the series. The episode has a rating of 9.2.

The last scene of this episode was very scarring and something that most fans didn’t see coming. Gon, Killua, and Kite continue exploring the forest until they encounter an extremely powerful Nen aura. Soon, Pitou appears in front of them after a mighty leap, cutting off Kite’s arm. Grasping the sheer amount of difference in powers, Killua hits Gon to stop him from doing anything rash, carries him, and flees the scene, while Pitou fights Kite. A battle that did not go well.

Youpi sits on the stairs leading to the King, blocking the entrance off from Gon and the others. We watch in this episode as Netero finally enters the battle scene. Zeno aids his entrance by using his Dragon skills. The ensuing damage sets up the scenery for most of the arc and ends up injuring Komugi. Surprisingly, Meruem actually cares for her and asks Pitou to heal her before heading off to battle Netero. The IMDb rating for this episode is 9.3.

This episode gave us a close and extensive look at Kurapika’s powers. Watching the fight between Kurapika and Uvogin build-up was exciting, and the battle did not disappoint. Kurapika’s revenge-seeking is the drive for his nen, and we see just how powerful he is. Chrollo learns of Uvogin’s death and speaks to the other members of the Phantom Troupe, as they all decide to fight back in honor of Uvogin. This episode got a rating of 9.4.

This is the episode preceding Monster X And X Monster. We watch Pitou feel an intense aura and quickly come out of the palace to see what it was. Zeno and Netero can be seen on the dragon, which soon shatters into many pieces that rain down on the palace and its surrounding ground. Pouf and Pitou are worried about the King’s safety and rush to protect him.

We hated Meruem throughout the Chimera Ant Arc, watching him brutally kill many people. However, by the end of this episode, you end up feeling a twinge of sadness in your heart for him. Palm guides Meruem to Komugi’s location, and the two play their final game of Gungi, knowing that the poison from Netero would slowly kill them. However, they both wish to share their last moments with each other.

The imagery in this episode is frighteningly intense and etched into the heart of every HxH fan. Upon learning that Kite cannot be recovered, Gon finally realizes what has happened. He understands that Kite is dead; this leads to him forming a condition with his nen, which gives him an immense Nen reserve. He is unable to handle it, and the Nen ends up forcing his body to age. Gon is ready to put everything on the line to avenge Kite’s death. This episode has a rating of 9.8 on IMDb.

There is so much that goes on in this episode. It manages to make a viewer feel many emotions throughout its run time. We watch as the long-awaited battle between Netero and Meruem is finally happening. Netero shows just what the extent of human resolve is and how powerful a human can be. Meruem experiences fear for the very first time in his life, and begins to develop immense respect for Netero. Watching Netero pierce two fingers into his heart, ending his own life to defeat Meruem, is shocking and tear-jerking. The battle in this episode is considered one of the best in anime history. It has a rating of 9.9 on IMDb.


Anime is an excellent medium of storytelling. Hunter X Hunter manages to successfully use its storytelling and visual components to create an exciting and beautiful world, while also creating a darkness that captures our attention every time we hear the name. It will always be considered one of the best anime to have existed.
